It was around three and a half years ago that I was rounding out year two as a regional vice president at Salesforce with a very large cross-functional team. And I was exhausted. I did not want to get out of bed in the mornings. It felt like Groundhog Day: the same forecasting calls, more intensified metrics to be tracked, things we were doing for our customers that I wasn't invested in.
It didn't interest me anymore. The role wasn't enabling me to shine in my talents as a leader. Transparently, I prayed to be let go! Salesforce, at the time, was going through layoffs. I was hoping to be a part of that group because the organization was giving generous severance packages. Unfortunately & fortunately, my team was doing well enough to not make the cut (I certainly wanted my team members to thrive!)
So I didn't get laid off as a sales leader. I remember being devastated because I just wanted an out. And then I realized I had to create my own out, my own exit plan. No one else was going to do it except for me. The universe had been telling me for a long time that I needed to have my own company and coach people full-time. At Salesforce, at Gartner, and at TEKsystems, colleagues would come to me and ask if they could pay me on the side to be their mentor or to be their coach. And that's when I started Love the Sell and Seek Love LLC, which is in its next evolution as Seek Coaching.
I've now coached hundreds of sales professionals to help them get unstuck, gain clarity, and reconnect with their values, their superpowers, and what makes them great!
